Partnering to Impact the Academic Success of Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities often feel like they don’t belong on a college campus. Faced with negative faculty attitudes, academic challenges, verbal and physical harassment - it’s no wonder that disabled students attending college have higher rates of psychosocial stressors, experience more barriers to learning, and have higher dropout rates compared to non-disabled students. Positive faculty and campus attitudes, supportive behaviors, use of accommodations, and inclusive practices on campus and in the classroom impact the academic success of students with disabilities. Academic success in college prepares students with disabilities for life-long success and helps prevent economic and social exclusion later in life

This project aims to decrease negative attitudes and academic challenges experienced by students with disabilities and increase awareness, accommodation, inclusion, and success.
